Henderson Care Center has Five-Star Quality

There are 255 nursing homes in the state of Nebraska and the Henderson Care Center is one of 32 resident care facilities in Nebraska to receive a Five-Star Quality Rating according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

This rating system was created as a tool for consumers, their families and caregivers to compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas that may raise questions for consumers when choosing a nursing home. The system for rating was create based on the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA '87), a nursing home reform law, and the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes, which is a coalition of consumers, health providers and nursing home professionals.

The CMS rates nursing homes based on the following three areas: Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality Measures. Each area is given a star rating, one being the lowest and five being the highest, and these three ratings are combined to calculate an overall rating.

Nursing homes can vary in their quality of care and service, so it is necessary to regularly review the health inspection results, staffing data, and quality measures of a facility.
