Position
Henderson Health Care Services, Inc. is seeking a Radiology Technologist to join the staff at the Henderson Community Hospital.
This position will be limited hours working some weekends on-call.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains patient rights and upholds confidentiality.
-Communicates emergency situations in the facility and alerts proper authorities if necessary.
- Assures the safety maintenance of equipment used by the staff and patients by alerting the Plant Operations of malfunctions.
- Responsible for the care and operation of X-ray equipment to minimize hazards of electrical shock and extraneous radiation to patients and personnel.
- Responsible for safe handling of X-ray films and maintenance of records and stock of supplies.
- Performs and records departmental and equipment QA’s.
- Orders supplies used in the department.
- Keeps alphabetical file card system and file film folders in numerical system.
- Performs file room duties to include the safe storage of x-ray films, the recording of films checked out and the signing of the consent form to release films, when applicable.
- Assigns charge codes (CPT codes) for each exam.
- Assists in routine cleanup, development of film, transportation of film, and stocking of departmental supplies.
- Schedules radiology exams for diagnostic, fluoroscopic, ultrasound, mammography, echocardiogram, densitometry and CAT scans and notifies patients of their appointment times.
- Interview patients for medical history necessary for insurance guidelines and reimbursement.
- Performs exam paperwork and film set up for reading for all radiology exams performed in the department or through a mobile service.
- Logs radiology exams in the x-ray register.
- Responds to emergency x-ray call after regular working day to include weekends and holidays with a response time of 20 minutes.
- Attends inservices, meetings and classes as directed.
- Meets compliancy for all state and federal requirements.
- Takes diagnostic images within a 5-8% repeat rate, including computed tomography.
- Communicates effectively with patients and staff.
- Properly assesses the patient’s condition and capabilities.
- Utilizes patient safety and comfort measures.
- Educates patients on exam protocol and procedure.
- Follows radiation safety guidelines and infection control guidelines.
- Abides by employee immunization/vaccination policies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- If technologist is trained in mammography, tech must perform dx quality exams and perform QA/QC as directed by the FDA/MQSA
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
This position requires an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT, and Nebraska State License. BLS recommended.
